Back to Rishikesh
Now that the weather is nice again I rekindled my yoga practice. It was long over due. The day just called for a good time out on the lake. Yoga by the lake in New Vrindaban is a true opulence. The birds were chirping, the sun was glistening off the lakes water and the […]

Side Effects and Recovery
Had a rough night last night. Chills and sweats and what is described under Side Effects as “bone pain”.
I had finally gotten approved for the Neupogen and Procrit and injected them Wednesday night. Thursday I was feeling off all day, but Thursday night (last night) was unpleasant.
I guess I am stuck with the […]

Bread & Puppet and Balsam Fir
I’m happy to hear of the proposed New Vrindaban devotee excursion to see a Bread & Puppet performance. At my first Vermont College (then part of Norwich Univ.) residency, our group adviser took us to Glover to visit the B & P home base. Glover is in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, so named because it […]

Puru das Departs
Is there something in the configuration of the planets? Another disciple of Srila Prabhupada has passed away, His Grace Puru das adhikari, of New York City.
“Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?”
[…]

As for the common man…
Tonight at our Thursday gathering in New Vrindaban, Viko Prabhu revealed to me a nice verse which enhanced our last Bhagavatam quote about outreach.BG 13.26TRANSLATIONAgain there are those who, although not conversant in spiritual knowledge, begin to worship the Supreme Person upon hearing about Him from others. Because of their tendency to hear from authorities, […]

Here Comes The Sun
In times of tragedy it is common to become introspective. This can be an external “blame game” sort of thing, or a puzzling out of the larger “why” do these things happen. There is also a natural tendency to gather together to share grief.
Tulasi called last night after he had returned from a vigil for […]

To My Godbrother Muktakesa
by Mudakari dasi
In Buffalo, cold New York State,
Your spiritual journey did begin.
You met your transcendental fate
And learned to wheedle, bluff, and pin.
With incense, flowers, stickers, books,
The infamous citation line,
You brazed the laughter, scornful looks,
The “No Solicitation” fine.
From strip mall, street, and stadium,
From parking lot to prison cell,
You served as via medium
To life beyond material […]

Grieving and Virginia Tech
I woke up yesterday still affected, like everyone else in the country, by the senseless slaughter at Virginia Tech. I was feeling contact grief for the families and friends of the victims and also effected by the idea that it could have happened at any college, including WVU where I have two sons attending.
I talked […]
